Has anyone used a cheap Germany VPS that’s actually good?

Yeah, I’ve been down that road recently. I needed a VPS in Germany for a personal scraper project nothing too unbelievable, but it had to be online 24/7 and not choke under basic load.

I started with one of those $3/month plans from a no-name provider. Big mistake. The panel crashed constantly, and every few hours the server would randomly reboot. I reached out to support twice and got no response. Total waste of time.

Then I gave Contabo a try. Their setup took longer than I expected I waited almost a full day for it to be ready but once it was running, it held up surprisingly well. I ran a few tests: ping to EU was solid, and CPU performance was good enough for a couple of Docker containers. Not blazing fast, but definitely fair for the price. Just don’t expect quick support replies.

Finally, I tried Eldernode on a friend’s recommendation. Honestly? Much smoother. The panel felt more intuitive, and setup was done in under 10 minutes. What stood out was their support I had a DNS issue, and they got back to me in under an hour, which is rare in this price range.

After testing a few, this is how I’d break it down:

Use Eldernode if you’re new to VPS or want actual support.

Go with Contabo if you want more specs and don’t mind being left on your own.
