To install Gulp you first need to install Node.js and then install it, So start by installing Node.js on your Ubuntu by following the instructions below and then install Gulp.
Note: To install Gulp, Ubuntu needs Root access or a Sudo username. So if you do not use root username to enter commands you must enter the Sudo command before the command below.
Install Node.js in Ubuntu
First, install the Python software properties packages below:
apt-get install python-software-properties
Now enter the following two commands to download and install Node.js:
curl -sL https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_8.x | sudo -E bash –
apt-get install nodejs
Once installed, enter the following two commands to display the NPM and Node versions.
This way you have installed Node.js on your Ubuntu, we will now proceed to install Gulp.
Install Gulp on Ubuntu
Enter the following command to start download and install Gulp.
npm install -g gulp
After installation, enter the following command to find out the version installed on your system.
